About the Event

For ages 6 – 9 years old | June 14-18 | 9am-12pm

Nine Monroe Museums are bringing back PASSPORT TO FUN camp! From June 14-18 from 9am to noon, kids ages 6-9 years old will begin each day at the following museums: Biedenharn Museum and Gardens, Chennault Aviation and Military Museum, Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo, The Northeast Louisiana Children’s Museum, and The Masur Museum. Jumping in at various places, ULM Natural History, ULM Bry’s Gallery, NELA Delta African American Museum, and Precious Legacy Museum and Archives will add to the fun too!

Study the artistic side of nature with the Masur Museum of Art and the ULM Natural History Museum. Campers will study specimens provided by the ULM Natural History Museum, then create works of art based on these specimens. The project will have photography and drawing components inspired by the exhibitions on view at the Masur Museum of Art, Letitia Huckaby: Parish and Lisa Qualls.

At the Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo, habitats and adaptations will be explored. Each camper will make their very own mini diorama craft! A “no touch” animal encounter will also take place to reinforce this lesson.

While at The Children's Museum, campers will make and take a hands-on, sensory kits, enjoy yummy snacks that they make themselves and enjoy playtime too!

The Chennault Museum presents a patriotic and historic fun time. Campers will construct and paint a one-of-a- kind wooden P-40 of their own. Building these planes, which were nicknamed “The Warhawk” nicely ties the Chennault Museum and ULM’s Bry Gallery.

While at the Biedenharn Museum, the gardens and a temporary exhibit of Marc Chagall lithographs will be used to explore “Shape, Line, Color, and Form.” Each camper will make a small table fountain and create a unique lithograph.

You may purchase tickets online, by phone at 318-387-5281 or in person at the Biedenharn Museum Store, 2000 Riverside Drive, Monroe. Cost is $125 per camper. Parents will be given a schedule detailing which museum they are to visit each day.
