The Governor’s Table and the Northern Frontier Explores Revolutionary History Through Food and Story
July 11, 2026 — Biedenharn Museum & Gardens will present The Governor’s Table and the Northern Frontier, a public humanities program combining a historical lecture with a live culinary demonstration to explore the American Revolution’s western theater.
The program opens with “The Back Door to Liberty: Spanish Louisiana and the Mississippi Strategy,” highlighting the role of Spanish Louisiana under Bernardo de Gálvez, with a focus on the Ouachita River Valley and Fort Miró. The lecture examines how the region’s geography and diverse population helped prevent British expansion along the Mississippi.
Following the lecture, guests will be led through “Frontier Fusion: Cooking the Revolution,” and will prepare a period-inspired dish, discussing how food sustained frontier communities and military campaigns. Guests will enjoy a tasting and Q&A.
